Coleman was born and raised in the town of the Lancashire town of Blackpool. Coleman was head of the class in the Arnold School, Blackpool and had straight A's at her A level. She is disappointed that she did not receive a standard college education in her discussion of her Emmerdale experience. Coleman received a nomination for Best Actress at the TV Choice Awards. Steven Moffat announced at a Doctor Who press conference on 21 March that Coleman was the replacement for Karen Gillan as the companion of the Doctor after Arthur Darvill left the series she would play the role of Matt Smith. Moffat selected her for the role due to her ability to work most effectively with Smith and also spoke faster than Smith. Eva's appearances in the TV show"Dr. Maria Santos, in All My Children, and detective Natalia Boa Vista in CSI Miami stand out. The first role she played on TV earned her two Daytime Emmy nominations, and helped her develop her passion for music. Eva is also a philanthropist, entrepreneur and philanthropist. She has been married three times, and has one daughter with her second husband.
