Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco (born Angela Maria Ani DiFranco) is an American and Canadian artist and singer. Her catalog includes more than 20 albums. The music of DiFranco is classified as folk, alternative and rock but she also draws influences from jazz and hip-hop. Ani DiFranco is widely recognized as a feminist icon, and Grammy-winning performer, is regarded as the pioneer of DIY music. She was among the first musicians to start her own label in 1990. DiFranco was the child of Elizabeth (Ross), and Dante Americo DiFranco. They were introduced in their school, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her mother and father were both from Montreal descent. Ani DiFranco composed and performed 32 Flavors. The song is from her album from 1995 Not a Pretty Girl, which was DiFranco's sixth studio release. It was also featured on the soundtrack of the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate, released in 1999. DiFranco apologized in 2013 after it was announced that she was planning to hold a three day workshop at the Louisiana slave plantation. She cancelled it but many (including the author of this article) didn't detect remorse. DiFranco released a second apology two days following the first.
