Beth Hart, a Los Angeles native is a blues-influenced vocalist and former street performer. In 1995 she debuted in the music industry with Immortal. Her outspoken personality and enthralling musicianship garnered attention and admiration, along with her emotional live performances and voice that was likened to Janis Joplin. "Hart is the epitome of a woman who is natural," wrote Chuck Taylor in the October 2, 1999 issue of Billboard magazine "bawdy and funny, chatty and free-wheeling with her choice of spicy words. But, nothing compares to her presence on stage. The tall, lean singer/songwriter moves and screams out songs along alongside Mick Jagger . At other times, she's taken her place in front of the piano or on the stage, where her legs are crossed over the chairs and her voice delicate and painfulthat it's hard to tell if she's going cry or if you'll. Hart was a teenager when she took part in amateur contests and experienced similar reactions. But she still had reservations about the industry when she started her professional career. Hart lost her band after traveling around the world proved to be damaging. Hart was forced to quit the public for four years. Hart spent this time soul-searching, writing music, and dealing with personal issues. In the end, eager to give her career a chance to shine she resurfaced in 1999 with the highly acclaimed Screamin' for My Supper which was a culmination of Hart's songwriting abilities and honest songs about tackling life's problems.
